How to stay safe from holiday hackers

Don’t forget cyber security while gift shopping

Look out for scams, hacks and cyber attacks this holiday season as cyber criminals keep coming up with new ways to steal your money and personal information.

Some shoppers are easy targets

It’s easy to forget about cyber security when you are caught up in the rush of holiday shopping online or in shops and stores. But security is especially important as millions of shoppers and sales transactions offer more targets for credit card fraud, computer viruses and identity theft.

Avoid shady “deals” and public Wi-Fi

Does the deal seem too good to be true? It probably is. If your online checkout experience gives you a bad feeling, trust your instinct. Be careful when shopping and making purchases on mobile devices and avoid using public Wi-Fi.

Pay attention to your credit card statements

Don’t click on links in emails or provide any financial or personal information the email requests. And remember to check your credit card statements frequently to spot any evidence of financial fraud during and after the holidays. Click here for more tips
